Is India Part of A New Flat World?

When Pulitzer Prize-winning writer of world-explaining books Thomas Friedman was in Bangalore, he had an epiphany. He was in conversation with Infosys CEO Nandan Nilekani, who told him, 'The global economic playing field is being levelled.'

And with that one line Mr Friedman saw that something really big was happening in the world. The world was not round anymore. It was flat.

He realised that Bangalore represented the creation of a global economic platform that has levelled the playing field, and more people can plug in and play than ever before.

This wasn't about countries catching up, or the world getting smaller. This was about individuals...people who are going global through their own efforts - bloggers, entrepreneurs, global problem-solvers...

And these individuals aren't going to fit any stereotype of success anymore. People of every age, colour, and background will reign over this new flat world...

Now, do we really believe India is part of this new flat world?

If you are to believe Amitabh Bachchan in this Times of India video, the answer is yes. But according to the video, titled India vs India, there are two Indias: 'One India is straining at the leash to live up to all the adjectives the world is showering upon us. The other India is the leash.'

'One India says give me a chance, and I'll prove myself. The other India says prove yourself, and maybe then you'll have a chance...'

Mr Bachchan says more and more people are quietly coming over to the new, optimistic, dynamic India where faith in success is greater than fear of failure.

History is turning a page in India... Are you turning with it? We believe you can and you should. No one will give you that chance. You need to take it. You need to reach out and grab onto the page as it turns so you can get to the next chapter.

If you want to find out what happens next, take the first step now. You will find a path laid out that, step by step, will walk you into a new world, a better world.

So what's stopping you from entering this new world? A world reaching for progress, forward-looking, filled with possibility... A world where there's money, enough for everyone. Where wealth is valued.

When you hear the word 'wealth', does it make you cringe? Does it make you think of greed, exploitation, materialism, and millionaires with no values?

Then let me tell you something maybe you need to read in print: Wealth creation is a blameless, uncriticisable, and, in fact, admirable activity.

The only circumstances in which wealth creation can be criticised is if it is:

  1. Created unethically
  2. Used improperly

Think about, for example, Azim Premji, one of the wealthiest men in India, admired because he is wealthy. Only because we can see that the way he created wealth was solid and the way he spends it is beneficial to the country. The same can be said of other wealthy leaders of industry - Nandan Nilekani, Narayan Murthy...Warren Buffett...Bill Gates...

Sure, we may find some wealthy people disagreeable, but that's likely because they do not fit our above criteria. If we see people as unethical, we simply don't want to be like them.

So if you are shying away from the pursuit of wealth creation because you are afraid it is corrupt, do not fear that. All you have to do is find the right way - using admirable, ethical wealth creation strategies that will help you contribute to this new, dynamic, flat world we live in. And the strategies we have laid out for you are just that.

These are positive, life-affirming wealth-building ideas.

If you are not on this journey already, do not wait anymore. Or you will remain in the same place year after year while the story of this new India unfolds chapter after chapter.

Hundreds of people are on this path right now - young and old, wealthy and not-yet-wealthy, happy and not-yet-happy... Here's the beginning of a letter I received from Club member Akshat Tiwari:

Dear Anisa,

How have you been??!! It's been almost a year since my last email to you. I had informed you about my move to Singapore and how with the help of ideas from Wealth Builders Club I could triple my salary and had great ideas to launch websites and blogs.

He sounds excited - and happy - doesn't he? I can tell you he sounds much more so than when I first spoke to him before he joined us. But if you think Akshat is young and maybe someone older wouldn't find this Club inspiring, here's what Mr Bakshi says to you:

Great and inspiring solutions for sixty plus. This is good that in his series Mark Ford made beginning with retirees, who must bring change in their classic thinking.

It is a great opportunity to reach sixty plus years of age. Many people don't reach that stage. Once lucky enough, why not make it worth, enjoyable, memorable? This is possible if one is physically fit in health and finance. Mark Ford has shared guidelines from his struggle in life, as well from others great people's achievements. There are opportunities for achieving hidden unfulfilled desires which could not be accomplished earlier.

And finally, if you think we're just talking about money, let me remind you that wealth is about much more than just money. We are talking about life. Your life. The lives of those around you. If you don't think one little Club can change everything for the better, let Captain Akshay Maini show you otherwise...

The wealth of knowledge and experience shared is great. But what has made this journey exceptional - is that most important motivational boost you get!!! It gets you moving, moving away from that very comfortable position of not following up on actions and to overcome the inertia of keep things the same.

I am happy to be a part of this group interested to increasing their wealth not only for financial fulfillment but also on how to make the most of what life has to offer.

The members of this group truly inspire each other. They inspire me as well. Every day I read their stories and find new motivation for my own life.

I can only hope you saw in this letter the world of opportunity that is out there...that we're bringing to you. A new journey awaits you, one that will walk you right into a brave new India. Step up now.
